Saturday Night Smiles

For the past two weeks the people associated with the Dee Hotton Stable have been walking around on Saturday night’s smiling.

The 2-year-old trotting filly, Just For One Day, owned by the Benny For Seven Stable of Massillon Ohio, closed out her freshman race season with a third place finish in the Night of Champions held at Northfield Park on October 23rd. Trainer Dee Hotton was pleased with her performance and noted the filly ended her season sound and healthy. She had 11 starts, 1 win, and 5 thirds earning $6,716 for 2010.

Also racing on the Night of Champions for the Dee Hotton Stable was the 3-year-old gelding trotter, Buckeye Man, who found the winners circle despite the dreaded 8-hole post position and everybody connected with the horse put on their best smile for the win picture.

Extending the smiles for another Saturday night, Buckeye Man stepped-out of his sheltered Ohio-bred sophomore class and into the older open class trotters at Northfield Park on Saturday, October 30th. He showed he could trot with the fastest of them by winning in 1:57.2h with driver Dan Charlino.
